Stadler to supply units and trams for St.Gall and Geneva (Switzerland)

Stadler Rail announced that Swiss operator Schweizerische S�dOstBahn (SOB) has made an option for the acquisition of 14 FLIRT units. The value of the transaction amounts to SEK 123 Million. This transaction is part of a contract signed by Stadler and SOB in 2005. The units will replace the old trains that run on the suburban network in St. Gall and they will enter service in December 2013. Deliveries will begin in 2012.

Faiveley to install access doors and braking systems on SNCF's new generation double deckers

Faiveley Transport and Alstom Transport have signed a contract for the supply of braking systems, air compressors and passenger access equipment for a first batch of 200 double deckers, part of SNCF's rolling stock fleet.
The agreement might be extended to include the installation of such systems on 1.000 duplex trains, in case SNCF will approve the option for supplementing the number of units in service.

On April 20, 2010, Siemens Mobility and Austrian Federal Railways (OBB) signed an agreement for the supply of 200 regional passenger trains over the next 5 years.
The contract stipulates the delivery of Desiro ML units and includes an option for vehicle maintenance. The value of the contract amounts to approx. EUR 1 Billion. On April 20, 2010, Siemens Mobility announced the attribution of a contract by Consorcio Tren Electrico Lima (CTEL) stipulating the electrification of a light metro network extension from the Peruvian capital, Lima.

Alstom Transport announced that Signalling Solutions Limited (SSL) including Alstom and Balfour Beatty Rail, has won a contract for the modernisation of signalling systems on a network in East Kent (South-Eastern England).

The transport sector is likely to prevent the EU from reducing its total greenhouse gas emissions by 80%, according to the results of a project set up by the European Commission.

The performance of railway services on the British network reaches higher levels. In March, 93 of 100 trains reached their destination with zero delays. Figures have been published on April 19 by Network Rail (the British railway infrastructure manager) in its periodic report on train performance. ZRS to transport iron ore for Arcelor Mittal

Srpska Republic Railways (Bosnia and Herzegovina), ZRS, has signed contract with Arcelor Mittal President, Prijedor Mittal, on the transport of 1.3 million tonnes of iron ore from Omarska mines. 1.2 million tonnes will go to Zenica plant, while the remaining tonnes will be shipped through Dobrljin, Samac and Brcko Port. This year's volume exceeds the iron ore volume of over 100,000 tonnes carried in 2009. This is not the first collaboration of the two companies.

Pakistan to carry WFP’s consignments on rails
